Our story

Los Angeles, January 2020. We met the way everyone meets now. Seven years later, we are doing this properly. You are invited to the second half.

Getting there

Everything happens in the northern Dallas suburbs. A car is the honest answer: rideshare works but is slow and expensive this far out, and the venues are not walkable to each other.

DFW
Dallas/Fort Worth International

The main one. About 25 minutes from Knotting Hill Place.

DAL
Dallas Love Field

Smaller, closer to central Dallas, good if you are on Southwest.

Free parking on site at Knotting Hill Place.

Accommodation

TODO — confirm with the planner whether shuttles run between the hotel block and both venues.

Walking distance to the Friday sangeet
TODO — hotel near Hall Park, Frisco

Best choice if you want to walk home from the sangeet. Shuttle to Saturday's venue.

What to wear

Indian clothes if you have them or want to borrow some, and western clothes if you would rather. Nobody is going to be checking, and there is no wrong answer that will bother us.

Sangeet
Friday
Indian festive

The loud, colourful one. Lehengas, sarees, kurtas, sherwanis. If you are in western clothes, cocktail attire is right. You will be dancing, so choose accordingly.

The wedding
Saturday, daytime
Indian formal or suits

Outdoors is possible, in March, in Texas: dress in layers and expect anything from cold to warm. The baraat is on foot, so wear shoes you can walk and dance in.

Reception
Saturday, evening
Formal

Cocktail or black tie optional. Many people change out of their ceremony clothes; you are welcome to do either.

  • Red is traditionally the bride's colour on the wedding day. Everything else is open.
  • White on its own is associated with mourning in Hindu custom, so it is usually avoided at the ceremony. White with colour is fine.
  • Heads do not need to be covered. Shoes may need to come off near the mandap, so consider socks you are happy to be seen in.

Questions

What is a baraat?

The groom's procession. Rishabh arrives with a drummer and everyone who feels like it dances him to the door. It is loud, it is not solemn, and you are meant to join in. It starts at one o'clock, so arriving late means missing it.

How long is the ceremony?

About an hour. There are seats for everyone, and it is normal to talk quietly, take photographs, and get up if you need to. It is not a church service.

Can I bring my children?

Yes. Indian weddings are full of children and nobody minds noise.

Can I bring a plus one?

Your invitation on Zola will say. If it does not name a guest, we have unfortunately had to keep numbers down.

Is there a registry?

On Zola, with the RSVP. Your presence is genuinely the point, and several of you are flying a long way for this.

What food will there be?

Indian, with vegetarian options throughout. TODO — confirm the caterer and whether vegan and allergy needs are handled by request.

When should I RSVP by?

TODO — set an RSVP deadline, usually about five weeks before, so early February 2027.
